On December 14, 2007, American football star Terrell Owens (T.O.) filed to protect the trademark I Love Me Some Me in relation to restaurants, clothing and cups.
Owens is currently a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. Prior to playing for the Cowboys, he played for the San Francisco 49ers until 2003 and the Philadelphia Eagles until 2005. Owens has courted controversy during his pro football career, and is known for his flamboyant celebrations after scoring touchdowns, some of which have resulted in fines by the NFL. Owens also appeared in a controversial Monday Night Football skit in 2004 featuring Nicollette Sheridan of the ABC series Desperate Housewives.
Owens has been widely reported to have a big mouth and an even bigger ego. He allegedly uttered the phrase “I love me some me” during a post-game interview.
Mork suggests that CafePress and Zazzle entrepreneurs with “I love me some me” apparel might want to reconsider their offerings. Owens might love him some trademark infringement lawsuits before too long.
