Dante’s Inferno

On February 15, 2008, video game behemoth Electronic Arts filed to protect the trademark Dante’s Inferno in relation to “computer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones, handheld computers, computers, video game consoles, both handheld and free standing, and other wireless devices”. The filing also covers “a continuing computer game and science fiction show broadcast over television, satellite, audio, and video media” as well as “entertainment services in the field of film and television, namely, the creation, production and distribution of films, videos, animation, and computer generated images”.

Mork expected to see Capcom as the applicant for this trademark. If EA is in fact planning a game using this title, it would be a little odd, and fairly bold, given Capcom’s Dante character and Devil May Cry series of video games.

Since EA likely isn’t making a game based on the indie film Dante’s Inferno featuring Dermot Mulroney and paper puppets, or involved with the Dante’s Inferno Game by Great Books Games which appears to have never been made, maybe EA is going to the source for their inspiration for a new game.

Satan and demons and she-wolves…oh my!
