Guitar Hero On Tour

Update: Kotaku has confirmed that Guitar Hero: On Tour will in fact be the DS version of Guitar Hero. Mork was going to say “told you so”, but he’s not one to gloat.

Update 2: On March 19, 2008, Yahoo and IGN, in an “exclusive reveal”, revealed that Activision has revealed to them that Guitar Hero: On Tour for the DS is in fact real and will coming later this year. Not really a reveal, or an exclusive one. If you had been listening to Mork, you would have known this 2 1/2 months ago.

On January 19, 2008, video game developer/publisher Activision filed to protect the trademark Guitar Hero On Tour in relation to “computer game software and related instruction manual sold together as a unit; interactive video game programs; computer game cartridges; computer game discs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games; video game controllers; Interactive video game comprised of a cartridge or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller”.

Since Mork spotted this filing a day or so ago, a blog called GoNintendo picked up a recent post from a French website (wiiz.fr) which claims that “Guitar Hero: On Tour” is the name of the DS version of Guitar Hero to be released in June 2008. This trademark filing would appear to validate that rumor.

A DS version of Guitar Hero was confirmed about 6 months ago, which included news that gamers will use a new peripheral to play the game as opposed to using the stylus as a primary input.

Mork wonders if Activision is planning Heroine Hero for the DS, with the appropriate peripheral. That was a joke. Drugs are bad.
